Large Decks in Downtown San Diego

Everyone seems to ask about large decks in downtown San Diego.  Because of the wonderful weather, these spaces are truly additional living space.  I even know of people who sleep on their decks!  We have interior furniture and rugs out on our deck and they seem to last as long as they do inside.  The only challenge I have found is plants.  Every plant except some herbs, succulents and cactus have attracted flies.  They seem to seek out anything that is living and set up shop.  Once we eliminated them from our deck, we have not had any problems.  Here is our deck:

For some reason, agents don't play up the decks in some of the Downtown San Diego listings.  I'm going to tell you about some really large ones I that are available from $299,000 up.

575 6th Avenue at Alta is a charming studio in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter.  The patio creates a sense of additional living space.  It is decorated beautifully with stainless appliances and wood floors.  The deck is interior but you can provide your own view because it is so spacious.  There is secured parking and a storage unit included.  It was built in 2007 and has 179 units on 21 floors.  It has nice amenities:  a pool, spa, game and fitness.  This one is asking $299,000 to $309,000.

1225 Island Ave. Park Blvd. East is a 1 bedroom 1 bath right across from the new Thomas Jefferson School of Law and Petco Park.  It was built in 2005 and has 107 units on 6 stories.  There is a fitness center and 2 lounge areas and the $370/mth HOA is reflective of no pool.  It has a small deck on the main level and then a 2nd 400 sf one on the roof.  No one lives above you.  This is a good one for $339,900.

301 W. G. St. City Walk is a 1225 sf 2 bedroom 2 bath 2 story with separated bedrooms, each with it;s own full sized bath.  Large living/dining room combo on the main opens to a patio ion the internal courtyard.  It also has a 2nd patio facing street side.  This is in the heart of The Marina District and was built in 2004.  It has 109 units and is a low rise 4 story building.  Asking price is $630,000.

100 Harbor Dr. is in one of the twin towers of The Harbor Club.  It has over 1030 sf and a nice view from the deck.  It's the perfect getaway for a second home or starter condo in this prestigious building.  Priced at $649,900. 



500 W. Harbor Dr. CityFront Terrace is a stunning upgrade of this 2 bed 2 bath with over $200,000 in upgrades.  African wood flooring leads to one of the nicest decks overlooking the Urban Canyon.  Listed for $699,000.

1431 Pacific Hwy Breeza in Little Italy.  This 2 bed 2 1/2 bath town home has unobstructed sunset and bay views from the spacious patio deck - about 400 sf.  Breeza is an awesome building right across from the new Waterfront park.  Listed for $899,900. 


501 8th The Mark Townhome is over 1700 sf built in 2007.  You enter this off the street through a gated entry.  It leads to an open living and dining area with lots of windows.  High vaulted ceilings and a large private patio.  Listed for $899,000 - $970,000.
