What do people do who live in downtown San Diego? Alot of interesting stuff! You will be surprised by the diversity. The people below are full time residents that are living the good life in America's favorite city.

We met the Maduza's through mutual friends and they have become a real asset to our lives. Below is their story:
Okay, when we are not wine tasting here are a few ways we spend our SD city life. Andy continues to work on a part time as a board member and financial adviser for Octane Fitness based in MN. We
both volunteer on a weekly basis for Catholic Charities Food Resource
Center (349 Cedar Street) that serves financially needy
individuals/families and the homeless. We also volunteer at the San Diego Rescue Mission (120 Elm Street) serving dinner and
providing community support in the men's division. Also, every Tuesday
morning Andy is a Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul's Villa. We thoroughly enjoy an array of activities that the city has to offer, including the following:
Barbara and Ric Charlton
Shell Oil and University Chancellor

I sold the Charlton's a condo across the street from ours. Below is their story:
We lived in San Francisco when we first got married, then Seattle, then San Diego. We like it because it has developed so much since the first time we saw it .

There are many activities that have
come to life here and people enjoying all of them. Observing sports,
concerts, events in facilities built right next to us, music, dance
performance, Balboa
Park and all that happens there—plays,
concerts, the new head of theatre is great. You feel theatre in a
different way than you have before.
In many ways we feel the pulse of the University of California, San Diego and the activities that
University
of San Diego contribute to life here. The intellectual activities and
all the activities that good universities bring to a community. A
full life, yet we live across the street from a small park that is
wonderful with a sense of history and a meeting place for people using
it in a very constructive way. We are impressed with the way that San Diego has developed and like living here very much.
School Administrator and Pilot
After retiring as a Deputy Superintendent from Half Moon Bay (San Francisco) and my hubby as a cooperate Pilot for Chevron, we moved to San Diego. Hubby flew all over the world! San Diego is his favorite destination! Love living in the city where we walk to yoga, movies, restaurants, harbor, everywhere! Never a boring day!
After retiring and saying that I'd never volunteer for anything, I
completely changed my mind! Still wanting to keep a connection with
people, I went to mediation training at the National Conflict Resolution
Center and obtained my mediation credential! Now I volunteer at Small
Claims court in Kearny Mesa once a week and take community cases for
NCRC in El Cajon, San Isidro and Claremont Mesa. Mediation offers the
opportunity for people in a dispute to find solutions themselves instead
of having a third party (usually a judge) make the decision for them.
It's an incredibly satisfying activity for me and I hope to stay with
the program for many years to come! Volunteering is a wonderful way to
'pay back' and keeps me excited about the future.
Ron and Annette Allen
Flight attendant and Wellness Company
This vivacious couple both still work and are on the go all of the time. They enjoy sailing where they are members of the Yacht Club. They just walk down to the pier and take off. Let the club take care of the maintenance of owning a boat! Their daughter lives downtown also and is active in community theatre.

High School Math Teacher-Coach and Realtor
We have lived downtown for about 8 years. Pete is a retired school teacher from Salem, Oregon and I work as a Realtor in the downtown Berkshire Hathaway office for Neuman and Neuman. We love being able to walk everywhere. Pete is an avid golfer and we both love recreational biking. Living and working in an urban environment keeps us young and stimulated. Because of the weather we spend most of our time outside. Downtown San Diego condo living has freed us to spend our time doing quality things that we enjoy. If you want to simplify your life and scale down, don't be afraid to check out Downtown San Diego. You get less square footage but the prices are still affordable for most and almost everything here is geared for aging in place. Check out my website at: www.marshashepard.com to see prices and photos.
