It was also fun to learn that University Heights San Diego was established before there was a university. According to literature published by the syndicate, an endowment fund of $2 million would be created to help establish the college. When lots were sold, part of the sale would go into a fund for the college. However, construction of the college never advanced beyond the planning stage, as the real estate boom suddenly came to a halt in 1889. Every summer in July and August, the University Heights Community Development Corporation sponsors a series of free music concerts in historic Trolley Barn Park.
